I wanted to show you some re-vamping that has taken place here at the Homestead! We have painted, (almost finished!) changed fixtures, put in appliances (we thought that wasn't optional:). We have worked our tail-ends off (I wish!). Here is the downstairs bathroom (1/2 bath) which underwent a complete overhaul. It has had wallpaper removed, new paint, new fixtures, some beadboard, and has had the scum cleaned off of everything !!!!Besides the light fixture I did the rest by myself! It gives me a sense of pride to know that I have some handy-man skills! We have put appliances in the kitchen. Did an inexpensive update with new knobs, and added a nice fresh coat of paint! It needs some new light fixtures put in. That will happen some day! I tore down wallpaper from 90 percent of the house! That was quite the under-taking, especially with 6 kids running around making messes of their own! I will get some more pics when we shape the place up further! It has been a labor of love. I do enjoy the house. Oh, don't miss my view out my kitchen window! That makes a small kitchen worth it!

hey lor! i miss you guys. How is pennslyvania treating you?
are you jehovah witness yet?
Your house is pretty! definitly your style. Country folk style! I wish I could come visit..some day! When I go visit fam in NY we'll have to spend the weekend with you guys! Where exactly do you live? I have family in allentown(they are JoHo's), and east NY(my real dad).
Hows lance doing? you guys rich yet?
WHAT?!?! How did you get all that done? Was the beadboard hard? I want to do that in the babies room. Can you come and do my house- that is insane- you have been there about 2 months and you have done so much. You are amazing! I think the house looks GREAT!! I miss you!!
Lori, what a great place. I love all that green. How's the difference in the weather?
You gals make me feel awesome!! I most of everyting finished within the first month. We had to live in the house, so I hurried right along. It was somewhat horrible, but now the major stuff is behind us. Gina, come visit anytime. We are by Warren, Ohio. We live in West Farmington. Not too many JoHo's here lots of different religions: baptist, Penticostal, Christian, Catholic (of course, lots of Italians!!!). The weather is considerably different here. It is very humid, especially when certain weather systems move in. Not too windy. The humidity makes the earm feel really warm and sticky and the cool chill to the bone. We don't have A/C out here, which is common. But there have been times in the heat that it is sweaty, sticky and miserable! It's cooling off considerably.
I love the bathroom, I'm a huge fan of bead board, although I'm pretty sure I'm a fan of having someone else install it rather than myself! I'll hire you! Totally impressive. I'm soooo happy you got a dishwasher! Your house looks great, Lor. Wish I could see it in person! :( loves, Jes
Yes, I did get the dishwasher! To save money i was going to skip it! Hahahahahaha! Silly me! I use it 2-3 times a day!!! Thanks Jes!
Oh, that view out your kitchen window is to die for. My kitchen window looks out onto my patio, which in turn looks out onto the neighbor's backside of their house. Lovely. I never knew if I wanted a fixer-upper or not. How has it been? Love and miss you!
Holy Crap Girl...you are truly amazing!! I feel like such a big boob now after seeing what you have done...poor me with two kids trying to move some boxes around with a big belly. Meantime you, a.k.a. bob the builder's wife, have completely renovated your house all by yourself with SIX kids! What a woman.... I am inspired and also really want to know more about installing bead board :) everything looks so great.
Fixer upper? Hmmmmm... Just plan on putting more money and time towards it than you expect. If the house has great potential, that makes it easier. I would say, it's hard to invest the time, money, etc. But i will really enjoy this house over the next 4 years. If the "fixer upper" part included fixing up things that I couldn't do myself, that would make it less appealing. It's tricky!! I think this has been worth it! I love the improvements we have done. I would love to do more! Beadboard is cake! You need some beadboard, edging (optinos are endless)finishing nails, Skil Saw, hammer. You have to remive your trim that's on the wall. Cut beadboard to fit, nail it up, put up trim. You can paint it or buy the one with a finish. Really, it's not bad at all!!!
Lor,you are super woman! It looks awesome. I'm so doing bead board in my house...I've been saying that for 3 years. Maybe one day I'll get around to it. You have done tons of work. One of these days I'll call you and chat about it. Luv ya and miss you guys...especially not seeing you all at Mom and Dad's this weekend.
I am so excited to be there soon!!! I love you & miss you tons!! AKMom
