Fourteen and Fall
Lance Albern turned 14 yesterday!! Honestly it is still trying to sink in. I went and bought him birthday candles the night before and I threw a 1 and a 3 in the cart. Then a few minutes later I realized I needed a 1 and a 4!!!!! 14? Shylee is a few months from becoming 16. It just bewilders me...
Lance Albern is a kick-back kid. He wanted money and to go to the mall with 2 of his friends. So, that's what he did. And in turn he bought 2 shirts and a zip up jacket.
Then we came home and we had cake and ice cream. He talked on the phone to Grandpa and Grandma right before he blew out his candles. They sang him their ghastly rendition of Happy Birthday :)
I love fall. I love pumpkins, candles, cinnamon rolls, warm glowing fires, and celebrating birthdays!!!

Cultivate Family Relationships

I love this Family Gem. It is so true. Here we are 2 years away from doc.'s wages and my boys and my girl are outside hauling loads and loads of firewood to the house to heat us for the winter; watching my husband wielding a chain saw falling trees. No matter how much is in our account (speaking of years to come...not now:), nothing beats working together as a family for a great purpose.
...and speaking of good people to walk beside, check out the post about by honey and his boy...

Grandpa was playing a cute game with Rider (when they were here last week). Grandpa would do something naughty and Rider would get to pull Grandpa's hair.
Oh, Rider was loving this!
So then it was Lance's turn. So Lance says "Oh, sorry, I guess you get to pull my hair now..."
And silly Rider laughs and then says~
"No Dad, I can't pull your hair!!! You no have hair!"

How We Receive Inspiration

“When the winds blow and the rains pour, they blow and pour on all. Those who have built their foundations on bedrock rather than sand survive the storms (see Matthew 7:24–27). There is a way to build on bedrock by developing a deep personal conversion to the gospel of Jesus Christ and knowing how to receive inspiration. We must know—and know that we know. We must stand spiritually and temporally independent of all worldly creatures (see D&C 78:14). This begins by understanding that God the Father is the Father of our spirits and that He loves us, that Jesus Christ is our Redeemer and Savior, and that the Holy Ghost can communicate with our minds and our hearts (see D&C 8:2–3). This is how we receive inspiration. We need to learn how to recognize and apply these promptings.”

I know I am oozing quips about gospel principals, but I need them right now...Could you imagine how hard some things would be if we didn't have the strength of our Heavenly Father, Brother and the Holy Ghost with us? I wouldn't want to go through trials without the knowledge of the true and eternal gospel principles...
