Pearly Whites, Islands and Light

Fisher~ "So, mom, do you brush your teeth a lot?"
Me~ "Yeah, everyday. We're suppose to brush our teeth everyday!"
(Here I think I am making a breakthrough. He has figured out the importance of brushing teeth EVERYDAY!)

Fisher~ "So, you really brush your teeth everyday?"
Me~ "Yep!"
Fisher~ "Then why does your breath smell sooooo bad?"

NICE...He was saying this to me this morning before I even got out of bed. I didn't have the energy to explain "morning breath."

Here's another thing I want to throw at you. So I am Asst Stake Camp Dir. I have been given some freedom to come up with a theme. I have come up with

"Island Of Light."

I have even written a song that goes with it. It talks about not being lost and drifting, finding the strength within yourself, standing firm, being a beacon of light for others. The island signifies standing alone in a world of darkness (the raging sea), and no matter what, keeping the light within in, piercing the darkness....

What do you think? Is the title too vague? I was thinking of a caption under it that is a bit more explanatory.

Any ideas you want to throw my way?

I want it to be an islander theme, tribal necklaces that each "clan" or ward, comes up with, and on and on and on, bringing in Polynesian as well as other islander influences.

What if this was presented to you? What would you think?

Feedback would be wonderful. Mainly 'cause I have awesome friends and family with excellent taste!!! Thank you!

Out The Back Door....

It's amazing the views that we have right out the back door. I will always have fond memories of our property here in Ohio. I love the serenity and peace it brings just to look out and take in the beauty all around us. I love walking down our long and tranquil path to the pond. I love our old and rickety fences, dilapidated barn, and the corn and soy fields next to us. I love the hustle and bustle of the brown and black (coined "Ninja") squirrels.
And when I come back inside the house, I like the family I see too!

Parents Have a Stewardship for Their Children

Posted: 03 Jan 2010 11:00 PM PST

“We have a duty to secure the physical safety and well-being of our children. However, some parents place undue priority on temporal and material possessions. Some are far less diligent in their efforts to immerse their children in the gospel of Jesus Christ (see Joseph Fielding Smith, Take Heed to Yourselves! comp. Joseph Fielding Smith Jr. [1971], 221). Remember that having religious observance in the home is as important as providing food, clothing, and shelter. Parents can also help children discover and develop their talents. We are responsible for the talents we have received. Children who are not taught that they are accountable for their time and talents are increasingly subject to the foolishness and unrighteousness that are so pervasive in the world (see Mark 7:20-23).
Quentin L. Cook, “Stewardship—a Sacred Trust,” Ensign, Nov. 2009, 93

Topics: Parenthood, Obedience

*If you haven't got on lds.org and signed up to receive Family, and Daily Gems, you are missing out on a spiritual thought everyday. I love them because they aren't lengthy, and they give you something to think about as you go through the day. They touch on important topics and help me stay focused on my "True" and Eternal goals in life.*
**And only He knows how much I need them:) And only He knows I couldn't sit still and read them if they were long! A bit short-sighted on my part:)

6 Year Old Wisdom

Fisher and I were having a careful conversation about the difference between girl parts and boy parts.

Fisher~ "So...girl's have special parts for having babies?...and what do boys have special parts for?" "Oh yeah!...." "Playing Xbox!"

How could I argue?

The "Wrap Up"

The "Not So" Early Birds, Christmas Morning! They didn't wake up until 8:30 which was very appreciated from this 3:30er!
Dad got up before anyone and I think he even did a load of dishes! This was a wonderful day. Everyone was so very appreciative.

Even though Santa gets ALL the credit for the hard work and effort put into the day, it was worth it to see happy and smiling faces.

We have loved the snow, which came a bit later this year, and in excellent timing, a few days before Christmas. No one has forgotten how to have a killer snowball fight:)
The day of Christmas was freezing rain, but it couldn't diminish any happiness around these parts!

I hope your Christmas was wonderful! and Mellissa, I thought the very same thing about wishing people a Merry Christmas, but I don't ever want it to become a thing that's so Politically Correct that I couldn't say it. I would wish someone a Happy Hanukkah too!!
Happy New Year friends and Family!

Just Letting You Know...

Rider is on some serious crazy-manic high that involves styrofoam, popcorn kernels and a lot of talking to himself...

I'm a bit nervous...
