Happy Sweet Sixteen Shylee!

Happy Sweet 16Th Birthday Shylee! As I was shopping in preparation for her birthday, I have to admit, I shed a few tears. In a craft store, I was looking at cake molds, crying that my daughter is 16! 2 more years and she is off and about, on her own! I don't think that I am ready....but she is. Of course, as a mother, I won't ever think she is ready. But then if it were left up to me, she would be 36, unmarried (because of course, no man could ever be good enough for MY SHYLEE!) and still living at home. But she has been growing up, to be a grown up. Since I can remember she has been way to adult for her own britches.

Her birthday started a few weeks ago, when I pulled a Debbie Allen and gave her school clothes for her birthday:) Bring back memories, Cal?
We went shopping ALL day at the mall, as well as other stores, and online. Then today, one of the most special days of our lives, here at the Allen Home, we celebrated. We took her out to eat at the restaurant of her choice. She wanted seafood at Red Lobster.

The food was a C- but the fun was an A+! She had fun goofing around with her cute friend Julie, and my good friend, Tina.

Then we came home for the good o'l fashion cake and ice cream...and a side of serious humor! When I was taking the pics of Shylee I had no idea Hunter was off to the side making goofy faces!

I love my ShyBug. I always have. She is the leader of our children, and has a good and sound mind. She has a strong testimony of the gospel and stands by her convictions. She says some strong statements, but she has two outspoken parents...what else can she do?! Her delivery of her statements will get better with time:)

I love ya Shy, I waited my whole life for you, and as hard as I want to hold on, I am glad you are a stellar 16 year old....Now about the driving part....

It's wrong, on so many levels, that Shylee is 16! I'm glad she had a great birthday. I loved the picture of the lobster legs by her face. Totally reminded me of another crazy lady...

This whole birthday, kids growing up thing is way over rated. Why can't they just continue to be contented with dolls and daddy-daughter dates? Tell Shylee Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday again...just making it last longer for ya! Sixteen just seems so grown up. It's crazy that in a few years she'll be moving to college. Crazy how time flies!

Maybe if we start wishing her a Happy 10th birthday, I can stay in a state of denial for a while longer!

Arggh! I missed Shy's birthday? And sweet 16 at that? I'm so sorry! A) for not getting to say happy day to Shy and B) for not being there to console you, Lor and wipe away some tears! I can only imagine what a crazy day that was for you! She can't be 16...it's so old! She's a beauty though. And hey, I'm proud of you for not raising a "door mat" daughter. I like a girl with a little outspoken-ness! It'll serve her well in this crazy world! ps-- was that her cake? That gorgeous flowery thing in the awesome colors? Did you make that? Were those frosting flowers? Man, my kids are lucky to get a betty crocker boxed cake frosted! Happy Birthday, Shy! Love yer guts!
