A Penny For Your Thoughts....

This morning I went to Relief Society "Getting To Know You" brunch. We went on kind of a "speed dating" but it was a speed getting to know you instead. My first lady was Sister Powell. I love her. She is 81 years old and as adorable as ever. She has had 10 children. Her husband passed away about 8 years ago. The second to the last question on the list of questions they gave for everyone to ask was:
"If you dream could come true, what would it be?"

At 81 years old, what do you think yours would be? In her circumstance, what would you answer?

Her answer was:

"To die."

She took me aback a bit. But then I raced it through my brain and figured that it was fair. As much as we don't want to lose our loved, even as old or as debilitated as they are, it's a selfish pursuit. At all the good years she has spent on earth, these aren't them anymore. Her husband is gone, her children are rearranging their lives to take care of her and now are looking into a hospice. Where would you rather be?

I'm not saying I would go against the Lord's plan, but just generating the thought of what would be best for her, or you in that situation.

So, there's my thoughts here's a penny for yours....

my grandma always says that to me....she's like to die. I'd hope that I will be more like Grandma Allen in my last days, with a better attitude.

There's a lady in my ward that's gonna be 96 she's been saying for years (I've heard) that she's gonna die soon or whatever but she still has a husband that's like in his 60s and she can still walk and everything but its just kindof a little joke in our ward that she always thinks its her time but she keeps on kickin :)
