Pinewood Derby & Snow Forts!

Oh, the Pinewood Derby...My first experience wasn't good. Lance was in Vegas. He couldn't make it back. SO it was left to me. Though I love most adrenaline related activities, this one was lack-luster! I put Lance Albern in charge (with assistance) of his own car. I didn't know the rules. So when they had to bring the wheel out to be the right width, it (off course) broke off. So then came the tears. The other Cubs trying to show support by cheering charitably for the poor shmoe that came in VERY last EVERY run down the track.

Least to say, it can only get better from there! We had a lot of fun this time. I am Cub Master so I got to run the show. Though I know diddly-squat about Cubs I know tons about how to have fun!!!

The boys have been diligently working at an awesome snow fort!

It has been pretty cool to watch them working together and enjoying themselves. Lance Albern, Hunter, Trapper, Fisher and Rider (if they want him or not!)

have put in their time everyday after school and on the weekends taking advantage of the plethora of snow!

They have holes and a cool half tunnel inside the cave. It reminds me of the days my sister Carey and I would spend hours upon hours building snow forts, playing games, sledding, and if should could drag me with her, ice skating!

That snow fort looks awesome! I remember doing the same thing, but mine never was so elaborate.

I am not looking forward to my boys being eight and going into scouts. There was a bad vibe in my house about it the entire time my brothers were in it, and I don't know how to find a good vibe. I guess we'll wait and see! I think you'd be an awesome Cub Master because you're right, you definitely know how to have fun.

oooo, I built some mean snow forts in my days! Weird, I know, cuz I'm not the snow bunny type, but if I had to the snow thing, we usually did forts! Huge ones. And ps--anytime your kids are playing great together OUTSIDE-- that's just the perfect scenario, isn't it? I love that! loves, jes

In all honesty scouts for my boys is not my favorite thing! I think one night on the mountain and my boys should get their Eagle!! Snow forts on the other hand!! That's for me!!

Being Cub Master is one of the best callings in the church. I dig it, and it's great that knowing how to build a fast pine wood derby isn't required for the calling. My kids would be so jealous of those snow forts. I bet your boys sleep good at night.

How fun to play in the snow! Lance Albern looks so grown up. Hey the cars looked good anyway. Tell the boys, you win some, you lose some. Love to you all. Aunt Marv
